Watching TV shows based on real people destinies is even more interesting when you realize that everything shown on the screen was in fact someone’s life story. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a historical battle or just a personal drama – these scenarios deserve all our attention. Therefore we’ve collected 8 TV shows with not fiction plots.

1. American Crime Story

Each season of this criminal drama is telling a story about real and very loud case, which has left its mark in the history of the United States. The first season is called “The Run of His Life: The People v. O. J. Simpson” and tells a story about famous footballer and actor O. Jay Simpson, who was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole and her lover. Strange testimony of neighbors, bloodies gloves, suicide and escape attempts: this story becomes more and more confusing with each episode. At the end the viewer will have to choose the right side by himself.

The second season will be dedicated to Hurricane Katrina, the third – to the the murder of the famous designer Gianni Versace and the fourth – to the political scandal with President Clinton and his mistress Monica Lewinsky.

TV show from Netflix is presenting fascinating chronicles of the criminal life of the Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar with almost documentary accuracy. The plot unfolds in Columbia in 1970s and shows Pablo at the very beginning of his “career”. Authors promote the rise of Pablo Escobar from the first sold kilogram of drugs to the status of drug lord with passion and dizzying speed.

This series also show confrontation between the police officers and criminal syndicate led by Pablo Escobar, since by the time the American cops finally come to their senses, the white powder has already been selling all over the country.

One of the most expensive TV series in history portrays the life of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. Events start in 1947, when young Elizabeth is going to marry the young Philip Mountbatten. Authors plan to devote each season to the specific decade of the reign of Elizabeth II. The main role will be transferred from one actress to another.

As it is known from history, Elizabeth ascended the throne after the tragic death of her father, King George VI. “The Crown” describes unknown story of the relationship between the Queen and her prime ministers. The series will have it all: secret intentions, intrigues and omissions – basically the audience will be shown the real life of monarchs behind the closed doors.

“The Kennedys” can serve as an excellent guide for beginners to get acquainted with the history of the United States of the twentieth century. In addition, very talented actors, including Greg Kinnear, Katie Holmes, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson incredibly play members of the legendary family.

Many people do not know that this TV show is based on the life and work of Judy Smith. For several years this lady has led the press center of George H. W. Bush. After ending her political career, she started her own business as a powerful crisis manager who can pull a client out of any situation.

The main character of “Scandal” Olivia Pope also eliminates the difficulties of wealthy and powerful people. It is said that many well-known politicians recognized themselves in some characters or situations shown on the screen. The series is a mix of drama and detective stories. In addition to the story about Olivia’s company, the series describe the inner conflicts between characters, complicated relationships and personal life dramas.

The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe

This biographical mini-series unfolds life chronicles of one of the most famous actresses in Hollywood of all time – Marilyn Monroe. The series begin from the very start of her career. A lot of attention is dedicated to the relationships between Marilyn and her mother, who for a long time was very ill and spent the rest of her life in a psychiatric clinic. The plot also tells about Monroe’s relationship with President Kennedy, as well as all of her marriages and how quickly they ended.

Viewers see Marilyn, the dream of millions, lonely in her bed. This charming and at the same time very intelligent and vulnerable woman all her live dreamed of becoming a mother and a loving wife, but became a victim of political intrigues and her own glory.

The plot of the military-historical TV series “Band of Brothers” was based on the eponymous documentary book of an American historian Stephen Ambrose. The story shows “Easy” Company’s journey from the training camp in Georgia, through landing in Normandy, the Operation Market Garden and the Siege of Bastogne until the end of the war. Creators, among which were producer and film director Steven Spielberg, as well as the famous actor Tom Hanks, did everything possible to show the Second World War as it really was.

Ordinary soldiers, who had to undergo severe lessons of the war, later become real heroes of their country. They fall into the midst of military operations, where there is no time for rest and peace. They will remember these feelings for the rest of their life and together become true brothers.

8. Orange Is the New Black

Orange Is the New Black

Another popular Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black” is a prison drama with elements of humour based on the eponymous autobiography of Piper Kerman. Ten years ago the main character Piper helped her friend to transfer money from the sale of drugs and now is sentenced to 15 month in women’s prison for complicity.

Now Piper has to survive in the brutal conditions of the prison and find her place in its hierarchy. Through Piper’s story the viewer takes a look at the life of women’s prison, where every woman has its own tragedy, history and feelings.
